The Choir:

Chorister

St Marylebone Church’s choir is made up of some of London’s finest professional singers. The Full choir consists of 10 voices and makes a distinctive contribution to the worship and life of the church.

During the Sunday morning Eucharist the choir sings a wide-ranging repertoire of Latin and English Mass settings, drawing on the best liturgical music from the Anglican and Catholic Church Music traditions. There is a particular focus on the Classical and Romantic Mass repertories with a variety of Renaissance and twentieth-century settings. The Gradual Anthem allows an opportunity to present a substantial musical work to complement the liturgical theme of the day and there is also a Communion Motet.

The choir sings regularly at Weddings and Memorial services and in addition to more traditional choices we have sung operatic arias and duets and specially commissioned works among others.

There are regular auditions for deputy singers and prospective candidates are invited to contact the Director of Music. The audition consists of one or two solo pieces and sight-reading. In choosing singers for the deputy list we are looking for voices of solo quality which will work well with other members of the ensemble.
